Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how JobMail AI collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Chrome Extension.

1. Information We Collect

• User ID: A unique identifier generated upon registration/first resume save, stored locally in the extension and on our server (MongoDB) to manage usage and premium status.
• Resume Text: The resume text you provide is stored locally in the extension's storage and sent to our server only when you request email generation. It is passed to the AI (Google Gemini) for processing and is NOT permanently stored on our servers after generation.
• Usage Data: We track the number of emails generated per day associated with your User ID on our server (MongoDB) to enforce usage limits. This includes your current count, limit, premium status, and the timestamp of the last reset.
• Payment Information: When you upgrade, payment is processed by third-party gateways (Razorpay/PayPal). We store a record of the transaction on our server (MongoDB), including User ID, payment ID, gateway, status, amount, and currency, but we DO NOT store your full credit card number or bank account details.
• Job Text: The job description text you input is sent to our server and the AI (Google Gemini) for processing email generation and is NOT permanently stored on our servers after generation.
• IP Address (for Payment): Your IP address may be used temporarily during payment initiation solely to determine your country for selecting the appropriate payment gateway (Razorpay for India, PayPal otherwise). It is not permanently stored by us for this purpose.
• Admin Credentials (Admin Panel): Email and hashed passwords for authorized administrators are stored on our server (MongoDB) for accessing the admin dashboard.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the core functionality of generating personalized emails.
• To manage usage limits and track free/premium status.
• To process payments for premium subscriptions via third-party gateways.
• To improve the extension and AI performance (using anonymized/aggregated data where possible).
• To respond to support requests.

3. Data Storage and Security

• User ID, usage data, payment transaction records, and admin credentials are stored securely in our MongoDB database.
• Resume text is primarily stored in your browser's local extension storage. It is transmitted securely (HTTPS) to our server and the AI service during generation but not stored long-term on the server.
• We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, but no method is 100% secure.

4. Third-Party Services

• Google Gemini: We use Google's Gemini API to generate email content. Job text and resume snippets are sent to this service for processing. Google's privacy policy applies to their handling of this data.
• Razorpay & PayPal: Payment processing is handled by these secure third-party gateways. Their respective privacy policies apply to the data they collect during the payment process.
• Netlify: Our backend functions and website are hosted on Netlify. Netlify's privacy policy applies to their platform usage.
• MongoDB Atlas: Our database is hosted on MongoDB Atlas. Their privacy policy applies.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We only share data as necessary with the third-party services listed above to provide the extension's functionality (AI generation, payment processing).

6. Your Choices

You can update your resume text within the extension's settings. You can uninstall the extension at any time, which will remove locally stored data.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy within the extension or on our website.
